"'Instant Replay' for Computer Systems Shows Cyber Attack Details"

Cybersecurity researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology are developing a new software system called Refinable Attack Investigation (RAIN). This new system will significantly improve upon the examination of the extent and impact of network or computer system cyberattacks by automating most parts of the assessment process. Investigators will be greatly assisted by this new system as it provides detailed records pertaining to the intrusion of attackers, stolen data, damage that has been done to the system, and more. This article further discusses the capabilities of RAIN, the research behind this new software system, and existing forensic techniques.
