"Study Finds Auto-Fix Tool Gets More Programmers to Upgrade Code"

As shown by the major data breach faced by Equifax, significant consequences may arise when programmers neglect to make essential upgrades to their internal software code. Patches applied to external libraries that are relied upon by software programs to perform some functions, must be followed by upgrades to internal code in order for changes to align. Researchers have conducted a study in which they examine how open-source projects incentivize and facilitate upgrades to code, along with their affects on the upgrading of code. This article further discusses how this study was conducted as well as what has been revealed about automated pull requests.
