"A Replacement Screen Could Offer Hackers A Key To Your Smartphone"

According to a new study conducted by researchers at Ben-Gurion University, third-party smartphone replacement parts may consist of maliciously programmed chips, which could be used to hack smartphones in order to perform malicious activities and steal sensitive information such as passwords and more. Researchers reveal that replacement smartphone components such as displays, NFC readers, and other parts, mainly manufactured by third-parties, could be used to hack into a smartphone. As the replacement part becomes integrated into the device, security protocols will be overridden and the third-party component will be trusted by the smartphone software. This article further discusses how researchers demonstrated this hack and other findings of their study.
